Some 900 temporary and permanent jobs will be created as online retail giant Amazon is set to open a new fulfilment centre in the UK.
The packing warehouse in Rugeley, Staffordshire, is Amazon’s seventh. The 700,000 square foot site will become operational in September and is expected to be fully staffed by the end of 2012.
“The centre at Rugeley will play an important role in fulfilling orders for customers in the UK, Europe and all over the world,” said the vice-president of operations at Amazon.co.uk, Arthur Valdez.
“We have a busy Christmas coming up and look forward to assembling a team of talented people who will play their part in ensuring that customers receive the millions of items that will be ordered over the festive season.”
