Nowadays, virtually every PC game is available in a digital format that you can buy and download from any PC. Brick-and-mortar stores have been offering less and less PC games because of that, but GameStop is going to do something a little different. GameStop today has announced it will begin selling digital copies of PC games in its stores, providing another avenue for PC gamers to purchase a game. The service will start this August when Deus Ex: Human Revolution launches and will be the first PC game of many to come that will be available in both physical and digital formats from GameStop. GameStop already sells DLC for a variety of games in its stores, and soon you will be able to purchase entire games that you can download to your computer. You may be asking yourself, why would I get a digital PC game from GameStop when something like Steam already exists? Well, with the GameStop model, you can trade in some console games and use that trade-in credit to purchase the digital PC copy. That’s right, GameStop will let you purchase digital PC games with trade-in credit and even gift cards, offering an alternative buying option. It will be interesting to see just how popular the service will be and if every new PC game released after Deus Ex is offered digitally.
